Official Scouting Report

06/02/2019 - College PREP - Columbia, MD Alex showed nice athleticism on the mound during his last workout. He lowered his 60 time to 7.51 seconds and lowered his 5-10-5 shuttle times. On the mound, Alex has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. He lands with good direction toward home plate and is around the zone with all of his pitches. Added extension and more lower leg drive can help abilities on the mound get better.

04/07/2019 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Alexander is an athletic RHP/OF who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72 mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-62 mph with 11/5 shape gradual break. Changeup sits from 60-61 mph with slight tail. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Alexander has a lot of potential with a lot of room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
