Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Alexander showed strengths on the mound with his 6'4/220 lbs frame at his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. In his first outing, he struck out 2 in his 3 innings of work, throwing a FB with tail, 10-4 CB, and CH with sink. In his 2nd outing, he struck out 3 in 2 innings of work, and only faced 6 hitters, inducing 2 fly outs and 1 ground out. His mechanics worked for him in his first outing, but he made some adjustments to help him pound the zone more frequently with all his pitches. Defensively, he worked at 1B, getting out in front to field with a sure glove. Offensively, from the left side, he showed decent pop with quick hands and level path. He rotated his core to help boost bat speed and made contact in every at bat. In all - Strickland is a hard worker that makes adjustments and plays for the team.

10/11/2015 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Alexander is a strong, athletic 2-way player graduating in 2017. On the mound, he throws from a hi 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action and an aggressive approach. He keeps his eyes on the mitt with great awareness of the running game. Mixing his 3 pitches to hitters keeps them off balance and improves his stock on the mound. Defensively, he works around the bag with athletic actions and confident approach. He takes mature angles to balls with sure hands and accurate throws. Developing a quicker exchange and lateral range will improve his defensive stock. Offensively, Alexander hits from a square setup with strong hands, quiet eyes, direct hands and middle of the field approach. Loosening up his grip and relaxing his stride/load will simplify his swing. In all, Alexander is a versatile player with a bright future on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
