Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

08/15/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Uniondale (Long Island), NY Alexander continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight run but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

12/07/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) Alexander is a LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Continuing to add strength can help Alexander improve as a hitter. With five more years to develop, Alexander has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/01/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Alexander worked out in the OF and on the mound during his last workout in Bel Air, MD. Defensively, skills are solid, feet are active, and he covers ground well. He works behind fly balls properly, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy to his cut off man. On the mound, this LHP has good balance and a loose/clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, gets good extension on his pitches, and lands squarely toward the plate. Offensively, Alexander has an open stance, a level swing path, and good balance. He has a direct barrel, keeps his hands inside the ball, and shows the ability to work the ball to all fields.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Alexander continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind more and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 52-54 mph He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/18/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Alexander showed nice abilities in the OF during his last workout with The Factory. He is an aggressive OF with active feet, good range, and he makes plays consistently. He fields in a low position, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with accuracy from a long arm action. On the mound, this LHP stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a clean arm circle, and some glove side lead. Mechanics are simple, he has a controlled landing toward home, and he shows projectable skills. Offensively, Alexander has a closed stance, good balance, and a short/compact swing. He loads well, has a short/direct barrel, and he can spray the ball to all fields. Alexander can continue to improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
