09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Alfonso continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with short break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/30/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Wilmington, DE Alfonso continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.26 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities are now solid he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch with fastball topping out at 74 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

02/22/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 14-18) Alfonso is RHP/SS that has shown nice improvements with us. This time we saw him on the mound where he works from a confident somewhat aggressive approach. He shows the ability to throw his off speed for strikes and maintains arm speed nicely to keep deception. His delivery is on time and he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. At the plate, he has quiet hands in a balanced, athletic set up. He shows the ability to make hard contact and works against a firm front leg at contact. He will improve as he works to stay through the baseball longer, and more consistently.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Alfonso showed well at both positions during his time in Arizona. He is an athletic player who continues to get better. On the mound, this RHP has good balance, his FB touched 73 MPH, and he mixes in his off-speed well. He has good composure on the hill, and goes after hitters consistently. At SS, Alfonso moves well to the ball, hands and feet play together, and he uses 2 hands. He plays through the ball some and delivers it with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. Offensively, Alfonso has a square stance, a level swing, and he makes square contact. He flashes some bat speed and hits with strength to the pull side.

07/07/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Alfonso is a young and athletic RHP/SS that graduates in 2023. On the mound Alfonso shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, CH. The FB showed some AS run, the CB had 10-4 gradual break, and the CH showed some cut movement with command. His mechanics start simple and as he gets to the balance point, he separates his hands on time. He accelerates hard to the plate and finishes rotating to his target. At SS Alfonso shows athletic actions with a +1st step and agile range. He presents his hands well to field and makes accurate throws around the diamond with a quick arm action that gives the ball carry. Alfonso strides square at the plate and works to get the barrel on plane and shows good power making line drive contact. Working on his footwork and fielding approach will help Alfonso's fielding. All in all Alfonso is an athletic 2-way player that is young and will continue to develop.

03/02/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting, Pitching & Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Alfonso is a coachable RHP/SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Alfonso keeps his eyes on target and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Alfonso shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 58-61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 62-64mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Alfonso improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone and makes solid contact. Alfonso can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Alfonso has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/28/2017 - Holiday Hitting Camp Strengths: - Strong Upper Body, Good Frame - Balanced Setup - Creates Rhythm, Smooth to the Ball Areas of Improvement: - Jumps at the ball, needs to let it travel to hitting zone - Utilize lower 1/2 more and he can create a lot more balance and power.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
