01/31/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI This talented/athletic MIF continues to show well. Defensively, he has active prep footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He works around the GB, gets into a square fielding position and tracks GB's into a soft/sure mitt. Footwork around 2B is quick as he turns the DP efficiently. Offensively, this RHH shows a quiet setup with centered balance. Swing path is level through a short/direct path as he barrels the ball up and drives it on a line. More power potential is there with more extension through contact. Alika has a solid toolset and should find success in this his senior year.

10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Alika is a high energy player with a promising future on the diamond and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improve as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.23. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process through the fielding process with defensive grade improving as he attacks balls more and plays through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, showing a feel for the barrel as he uses the middle of the field well through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to stay back and transfer weight properly through his lower half. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team guy and works hard to be the best player he can be. He is versatile and is able to play many positions on the diamond.

01/25/2015 - National Tryout - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Alika is entering his junior season and projects as a middle infielder. Defensively, he does a good job of using his quick feet to stay low, working from right to left. Developing arm strength and lateral mobility will take his game a step further. Offensively, he remains in a square stance with good balance. He keeps his head down, tracks the ball in and swings with a level bat path. Alika is a solid player that with continued work on his skills he will see a future at the next level.

12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Alika showed as a 2B/3B at the event with steady play in his baseball abilities as he displays an outstanding work ethic. In the IF, feet are active as he squares balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his as he attacks balls while playing through and presents hands out front through a low approach. Action are fluid and smooth with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. Throws display accuracy as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path through an aggressive approach. He uses his lower half well and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 2 for 7. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays with a lot of energy and is very coachable, working hard to be the best player he can be.

08/17/2014 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Alika is an athletic 3B that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.44 60 time. Defensive grade are outstanding as he displays quick / athletic actions. Hands and feet work well together as his attacks ground balls and presents soft glove well out front. He shows big play potential at 3B. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel, displaying gap to gap power. Alika has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
