01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Allen is a SS prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season Prospects Tournament. In the field, Allen shows efficient footwork and moves well to his glove side. He fields with a firm glove and has a clean exchange, making accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a centered stride. He is controlled getting into a simple load and works through a level swing, producing solid contact. Overall, Allen is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Allen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth/athletic actions. Feet are active and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 5. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Corpus Christi, TX Allen lowered pop times to 2.7 seconds, raised arm velocity to 63 MPH, and exit velocity to 62 MPH during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, Allen tracks well to his glove and his hands and feet are playable. He gains ground, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and a short arm action to 2nd base. At SS, Allen creates a good fielding angle through quick/fluid feet. He moves well laterally, shows a quick exchange, and has a quick/accurate arm across the diamond. At the plate, Allen stands in the box with a tall/open stance. He has good balance, he works the ball gap to gap, and he uses his lower body.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Allen is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect that was eager to learn. At SS, Allen is on time with his prep step, he works behind the ball, and has a clean exchange. He needs to continue to present a low/early glove, work from the ground up, and improve his first step to the ball. At the plate, Allen starts in a tall and open stance. He loads his hands back and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to get his front foot down on time, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive with his lower half. On the bump, Allen shows confidence in his fastball and commands the middle part of the plate. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He needs to continue to ride his back leg toward the plate and work north to south in his delivery. Allen has good instincts on the field and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Corpus Christi, TX Allen is a young, 2-way player who plays SS and catcher. At SS, Allen presents his glove well, he fields in a low position, and his feet are active. He has a good glove angle, a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. Behind the plate, Allen sits in easy, he tracks well to his glove, and has a short/accurate arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 3.46 seconds. At the plate, Allen has an athletic setup, a short stride, and good balance. He swings on plane, has some strength to the pull side, and uses some lower body. Allen can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
