01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Alonso is a strong and athletic C in the 2023 class out of Colleyville, TX. He impressed recently at the AZ Preseason event by displaying competitiveness. Behind the plate, his 5’11/200 frame moves well. His feet are active and balances his body on the balls of his feet. Strong glove presentation with a firm wrist. Can maintain the strike zone and receives behind his eyes. Exchanges are clean and drags his knuckles in front of his eyes for short take aways. Release is quick (2.09 pop) and throws are to the bag. Working on increased hip mobility, will allow him to take advantage of a strong lower half. At the plate, he generates explosion (86 exit velo). Has power to the pull side with potential for back side feel. Stays in his legs and has good extension through the pitch. Firming up his front side will allow him to stay inside the pitch and use the largest parts of the field. With two years left to develop, Alonso can be a sought-after prospect in the 23 class.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Alonso is a coachable C/3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. Behind the plate, Alonso sits in an athletic primary stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He gets into an athletic secondary stance and gains ground on his throws to 2B. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate with good carry through the bag. He is smooth moving to block and covers up well. At the pate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated well and drives through with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone and flashes gap to gap pop. With four more years to develop, Alonso has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
