  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Alvaro is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training in Arizona. In the field, Alvaro gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Alvaro improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is on time getting into a small load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact to his pull side. Alvaro can improve as a hitter by attacking the ball more aggressively. On the mound, Alvaro gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Alvaro shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59mph. Changeup sits from 45-47mph. Extending through his release more can help Alvaro improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, Alvaro has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Alvaro is a versatile 3B/RHP prospect who has a talented skill set. As a right-handed hitter, Alvaro has a square setup with a firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Alvaro stays athletic through his swing and is developing bat speed. He has an aggressive approach and jumps on pitches in the zone. Alvaro has the ability to spray the ball to all field. In the field, Alvaro plays with effective footwork and covers good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic position. Alvaro has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent with online strength across the diamond. Alvaro also shows a smooth backhand. On the mound, Alvaro attacks the strike zone and pitches to contact. He shows smooth mechanics throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot with a clean arm action. Alvaro stays square to home plate and can benefit from a longer stride. He does a nice job rotating towards his target as he finishes. Alvaro commands his fastball working down in the zone. Overall, Alvaro is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to get even better.

10/14/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Pasadena (Los Angeles), CA Alvaro is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Alvaro has efficient footwork, presentable hands, and he tracks the ball into his glove well. He centers properly, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Alvaro stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a clean arm circle, and he separates on time. He gets good extension, has a proper landing, and throws strikes. Offensively, Alvaro stands in athletically, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He works the ball gap to gap, he can hit to all fields, and flashes strength in his barrel. Overall skills can get better if Alvaro can work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
