05/15/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Bowie, MD This athletic LHH MIF continues to progress on the diamond. With the bat, he stands in well with centered balance and rhythm to load. Stroke is smooth as he squares the ball up and drives it on a line. In the MIF - Amani has athletic actions and works smoothly from right to left. Hands are soft as he gathers well with accurate throws to 1B. A 2018 grad - Stevens has upside with still time to develop.

04/10/2016 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Armani continues to show well. Defensively, he has fluid actions as he works around the GB from right to left. He makes the plays with soft hands, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. As a hitter - Stevens shows an athletic setup with good balance as he tracks pitches into the zone and off of the barrel. He squares the ball up and looks to drive the middle of the field. Added power will come as he works to engage more of his lower 1/2.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Stevens is an athletic 2018 grad that played 2B at Pirate City. Defensively, Amani showed efficient footwork to go with good body control and displayed a quality transfer on double plays. The arm is accurate and plays well at 2B. Amani will benefit from being more aggressive on ground balls and presenting the hands out in front and softening the hands on the backhand technique. At the plate, Stevens hit from a balanced, slightly closed position and activated the hands properly in the launch. Developing a timing mechanism to avoid the front foot coming down late and attacking the inside part of the baseball will develop a looser stroke with more likelihood of extension. Once on base, Stevens is an aggressive base-runner. A young player who was anxious to learn and works hard, Amani will be able to get the most from his abilities moving forward.

12/13/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Madison (NYC), NJ This athletic MIF continues to work hard. Defensively, he has active pre-pitch footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He funnels smoothly and has a strong arm, firing accurate throws with carry across the diamond. With the bat, Amani has quiet/simple actions getting into a loaded position. He has good zone awareness and waits for his pitch. He is a contact type of hitter and barrels the ball up consistently. Stevens has upside (2018 grad) with still time to develop on the diamond.

09/27/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Bowie, MD Amani is an athletic LHH MIF. Defensively, he shows quick/active footwork moving well around the GB. He has smooth/athletic actions, gathers well and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Offensively, Amani shows an athletic/balanced setup with a solid base. He whips the barrel through a level path, connects and hits line-drives consistently back up the middle of the field. Even more power potential is there with more lower 1/2 drive. A 2018 grad - Amani has a ton of upside with still time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
