08/30/2014 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Amar is a young, ballplayer who works hard and makes adjustments well. He shows a good setup with a square stride, and the ability to be aggressive at the plate. He attacks the pitches he likes and drives them. He needs to continue to work on adding rhythm and tempo to his load while remaining balanced throughout the swing. Amar also needs to develop a more consistent setup and stance; having a solid setup is going to lead to a strong launch position and a consistent swing.

05/11/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Ashland, VA Amar is a 2-way player (OF/SS) who has a small frame. At SS, he shows active prep footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He moves well laterally, squares the ball up and field it cleanly. In the OF, he takes a quick first step as he works into position behind the fly-ball. He has a clean exchange and works in-line toward his target. With the bat, Amar shows good balance with a solid base. He swings on a level path and is a contact type hitter. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Arm strength
2. Routes/Angles
Infield
1. Glove presentation
2. Play through ball
Offense
1. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
