Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Andre is a SS/RHP who is a prospect at both positions. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to the deep parts of the park. In the MIF, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (93 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. He continues to show as an upside on the bump. This righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 90 mph. FB jumps out of his hand and shows with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Andre will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact, possibly as a two-way guy.

11/04/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Dre is a talented 2-way player - RHP/IF. He is athletic with a strong 6'2"/190-pound frame and does a lot of things well on the field. On the mound, Dre is aggressive with his fastball, going right after hitters with a pitch that explodes out of his hand. He sat in the upper 80s, though it got on hitters as if the velocity was much higher. He pitched inside to right-handed hitters and did a good job of climbing the ladder to induce some swing-and-miss. His secondary offerings were a breaking ball with short 3/4 tilt and a developing change - both showed promise. At the plate Dre showed a balanced, repeatable stroke that produced loud contact (91 mph exit velocity). He is a confident hitter with good strike zone judgement as evidenced by his two walks in game play. Dre also had a single and showed his instincts for the game with a few stolen bases on the day. To round out his skills, he was solid in the infield with sure hands and plenty of arm strength across the diamond from the left side. Overall, Dre is an exciting prospect to follow closely. While his highest ceiling may be on the mound, he will certainly be looked at as a 2-way guy at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
