Official Scouting Report

02/17/2020 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Andre continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate hitting / power potential has improved, now displaying well above average abilities through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and aggressive working through a level swing path. He loads well and utilizes his lower half well with rhythm. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry across the diamond. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph. Breaking ball sits from 58-60 mph with 11/5 break. Changeup sits from 70-71 mph as he maintains arm speed but needs to develop a better feel for pitch. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help him improve as a pitcher.

12/20/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Andre is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Andrew shows active footwork and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Andre improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance takes takes a short stride. He is controlled getting into a small load and hits against a strong front side. He generates explosive bat speed through the zone, leading to solid line drives. Andre can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing path. On the mound, Andre gathers over the rubber and works with a quick arm. He stays inline towards the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Andre shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph. Breaking ball sits at 61mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 71mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Being more controlled separating his hands can help Andre improve as a pitcher. Overall, Andre is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Waterford Township (Detroit), MI Andre is a lean and strong 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2020. At 3B, Andre shows active and effective footwork working to the ball and gains ground well. He gets into a square position as he fields the ball making clean exchanges getting rid of the ball with a loose arm action. His throws are consistent with momentum and are online to the target. Fielding the ball more out in front of his body will help Andre become a more consistent fielder. At the plate, Andre sets up in a square stance and gets his foot down on time to begin the swing. His rhythm is smooth as he keeps his balance centered working hard to get on plane. He shows a balanced line drive approach hitting the ball to all fields. On the mound, Andre shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. The FB shows good sink, the CB is 12-6, and the CH shows good sink with FB arm speed. Pitching, he gathers over the rubber well separating his hands on time. He keeps his stride square to the plate. Andre shows solid abilities as a position player and as a pitcher and will continue to develop.

09/22/2019 - National Tryout - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Andre continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.33 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Feet are aggressive as he works to square balls up but will benefit by playing through more with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/18/2019 - National Tryout - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Andre is a strong 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Andre takes a good prep step and makes the routine plays. He flashes a clean exchange and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Andre improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and drives the ball to his pull side. Andre can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Andre gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He extends through his release and stays inline towards the plate. Andre shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-61mph. Changeup sits from 69-73mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Working with a looser arm action can help Andre improve as a pitcher. Overall, Andre is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
