Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/05/2020 - National Tryout Plus - San Antonio, TX Andres improved arm velocity to 58 MPH, exit velocity to 65 MPH, and hitting numbers to 25's during his last workout. At 3B, Andres shows playable hands and feet and a square fielding position. He fields squarely, gets rid of it quickly, and throws with a short arm action across the diamond. On the mound, Andres has good balance over the rubber and he separates his hands on time. He has a square landing toward home plate, solid direction, and he is around the zone. At the plate, Andres has a square set-up and stance, and he loads his hands well. He has a good bat angle, swings on plane, and he can spray the ball to all fields.

10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Corpus Christi, TX Andres worked out at 3B and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Andres has active feet, a good 1st step to the ball, and he fields out in front of his body. He plays low, has a good backhand, and throws with solid direction across the diamond. On the mound, Andres has good balance and a clean arm circle. He works in good tempo, spots his FB well, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Andres has a tall stance, a short/square stride, and he makes consistent contact. Andres will continue to improve with strength and added reps.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Andres is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who hustled all over the field at the Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Andres makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Andres improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a small stride. He takes a level swing and works to barrel up the baseball. Andres can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Andres gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph with sinking action. Lengthening his arm action can help Andres improve as a pitcher. With seven more years to develop, Andres has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
