08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Drew showed his consistent ability at the Pirate City World Series presented by Baseball Factory. Defensively, he made the routine plays and played the game hard. He goes after everything and was especially aggressive to go get fly-balls. After making plays with mostly sure hands, he threw with an accurate arm. Speeding up his feet and becoming more agile will increase play in the middle of the field. Offensively, he hit with a balanced stance and good approach. He was direct with his bat path and had good coordination with his hands & hips. Drew showed improvement to his pitch selection in this event showing he has developed since his last event. On the mound, he competed staying directional and throwing strikes. He tried to work in, but had a tendency to leave the ball too far over the plate. Overall - we have seen growth in Drew's ability over the past few event and we look forward to tracking his development as he goes home to focus on his weaknesses and maintains his strengths.

07/07/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Drew worked as a SS/RHP with consistent ability on both sides of the ball. He made plays with good range, efficient feet and body control. He hit from a square stance with good barrel accuracy and bat speed. On the mound, he threw three pitches from the high 3/4 arm slot. He worked quick and had good deception with his delivery. His CB is his best pitch with sharp action and 11/5 shape. In all - Drew continues to show work ethic and improvement time and time again.

06/21/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Drew showed well in the tournament setting with Baseball Factory at the Omaha National World Series. Defensively, he made plays with decent actions and an accurate arm. He made the routine play and needs to work to increase his first step quickness to help his range. Offensively, he gets square to hit with his lower half and activates his hands. He gets his lower half through and is direct with the barrel to contact with loose actions. His pitch selection was an area of focus during the event, and he worked to hit the fastball earlier in the count. Drew jumped on the mound as well, throwing two pitches with some repeatability. He attached the hitters and pitched to contact. All in all - Drew is an intelligent young player that finished camp off with back to back doubles.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Drew showed some improvements in his overall game during his time in Pirate City. Defensively, Drew has proper footwork, good body control, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He works the double play well and throws with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Drew has good mechanics, he rotates through to his target, and he fields his position well. Offensively, Drew has quick bat speed, he can spray to all fields, and he flashes good barrel accuracy.

10/06/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Drew is a lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Feet are active and as he works to square balls up and makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands. He needs to attack balls more, improve foot quickness, and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate and gets rid of the baseball quickly but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Dark shows a squared / balanced approach. Hands are loose and work through a short / level swing path. For grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays short, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed pitches show potential as being quality tools as he continues to improve. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With2years to further develop, Drew has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
