Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This versatile 2-way player continues to show well. With the bat, this power hitter works back into a strong load/launch position and waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is quick as he takes a hack with authority. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he drives to ball deep to all parts of the field. At 1B, he has active footwork and moves well laterally. He is a big target and can get to inaccurate throws easily. On the bump, Andrew works to a controlled balance point with level shoulders. Arm works loose/free as he FB shows arm-side run and will get in on the RHH. He mixes his pitches well with faith to throw either in any count. Belick is a talented player who will play at a high level.

09/20/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Futures East Belcik has a large frame with size at 6-foot-2 and 218 pounds. He appears to have the most promise on the mound, where he featured an upper 80s fastball along with a wipeout slider. From the windup, he was lights out. Fastballs were in the upper 80s and his slider was extremely sharp in the low 80s. He was just wild enough to unsettle hitters, and induced a number of feeble swings from a talented group of hitters. From the stretch he lost several mph across the board (fastball and secondary stuff) and generally didn't have the same feel for the ball. With an improvement along these lines, he looks good to fill a late inning bullpen profile - two plus pitches and ability to make hitters uncomfortable fits well in the back of a bullpen. As a position player, he has strength that shows itself the best through raw power. He simply overpowered the ball in batting practice, was quick to contact and used strength thru contact. Defensively, he moved around the bag at 1B fairly well. Overall, has some two-way potential but best value is likely on the mound.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Vero Beach (Ages 14-18) Andrew is a young, athletic 3B/C that will graduate in 2016. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the 2.06-2.15 range with accuracy on his throw. Throws show accuracy, life, and on line carry into his target as he displays outstanding arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to improve. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He needs to play through balls more while presenting hands more out front, and improve foot quickness to improve defensive grade. At the plate, Belcik shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Barrel accuracy is a plus with ball jumping off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker with a great attitude. With 2 years to further develop, Andrew has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
