12/20/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Christmas tournament. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.35. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. At the event, he was 4 for 6 with a 2B and 3B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/23/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Bowie, MD Andrew is an outstanding SS/RHP in the 2027 class. He recently impressed scouts with his actions on the diamond. In the field, he uses fluid feet and agile movements to gain ground to the baseball. He fields in a low and athletic position with a quick redirection of the baseball. Uses loose arm action from a high ¾ slot to make accurate feeds with carry (80 velo). On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix. His FB topped at 75 and pounded the zone. His CB sat 62-3 with 11/5 shape and controlled both sides of the plate. His CH has depth with running action at 67-8. Scouts were impressed with his front side action and feel if he can load his back hip more, his velo will increase. At the plate, he swings with the intent to do damage (80 exit velo). His barrel path is short and direct to the baseball and demonstrates pull side production. Working to stay square in his stride, will allow him to attack the inside part of the baseball and use the whole field. Overall, Andrew is just scratching the surface of becoming a star on the diamond.

03/20/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Bowie, MD Andrew is a 2B/RHP in the class of 2027 out of Fulton, MD. At 2B, he showed fluid footwork with good angles to get to balls in a low fielding position to make the plays. He presented his glove on time while coming through the ball to make clean exchanges and accurate throws to his target. At the plate, he used an athletic stance with good timing and a square stride that worked to a firm front side on the swing. He delivered the barrel direct to the ball which enables him to make consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, he showed good actions and arm path as he worked his three pitch mix of fastball (69mph), breaking ball and change up. Andrew is a solid young ball player who has the time to keep progressing his game to take it to new heights.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
