01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Andrew is an athletic 2022 2-way prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the weekend. In the OF, Andrew is on time with his prep step and works behind the ball. He creates momentum in his lower half and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to build arm strength through a long toss program and improve his first step to the ball. At the plate, Andrew starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back, and has good pitch recognition. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and creating backside rotation in his lower half will allow him to drive the ball more consistently. On the bump, Andrew finds a balanced point over the backside, he separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He throws his fastball down in the zone and has good feel for both of his off-speed pitches. He needs to continue to ride his backside toward the plate and work north to south in his delivery. Andrew will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
