08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Andrew is an athletic and strong 2021 Utility player that was eager to learn. At the hot corner, Andrew is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works through the ball. He has soft hands, he funnels the ball into his body, and get his feet in a good position to throw. Behind the dish, Andrew starts in a quiet primary stance, he has soft hands, and works behind the ball. When throwing, he has a clean exchange and quick release. He needs to continue to gain ground, stay in line toward his target, and improve his arm strength with a long toss program. When blocking, Andrew anticipates the ball in the dirt, he leads with his glove, and has a soft chest to control the ball. At the plate, Andrew starts in a tall and open stance. He gets to balance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and has explosive hands to the ball. He needs to continue to create backside drive and looks to have a middle approach to improve his contact. Andrew has tremendous upside and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/28/2019 - College PREP - Manalapan, NJ Andrew is a solid (5'7"/225) 2-way player (3B/C) who works hard on the diamond. At 3B, he displays active prep footwork and moves around the GB and into a square fielding position. Hands are smooth and arm is loose as he fires accurate throws across the diamond. Behind the dish, he sits in well with quiet/athletic actions. He tracks pitches into his mitt and sticks the ball, framing well. Transfer/exchange is clean with pop times as low as 2.19. Continuing to develop his blocking technique will help him to advance his skills as a catcher. At the plate, this righty steps into the box looking to swing it. He swings against a firm front-side and works to engage his backside lower 1/2. He looks to square the ball up and hit line drives. Working to become more consistent with his swing path and creating extension through contact will both help to take his tools at the plate to the next level. A 2021 grad, Brown has tools with upside on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
