Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Andrew ran his best 60 to date (6.93 seconds), increased radar velocity to 84 MPH, and exit velocity to 90 MPH at the Pre-Season. He is a talented 2-way player who keeps getting better. At 3rd, Andrew has loose action, quick feet, and he fields the ball cleanly. He makes plays consistently, gains momentum toward his target, and throws with accuracy and strength. On the mound, Andrew has a good mound presence, a loose/quick arm circle, and he competes well in the zone. He attacks hitters, has a good landing toward home, and finishes completely. At the plate, Andrew also showed solid upgrades. He is an aggressive hitter with explosive bat speed and a rhythmic swing. He makes hard/level contact, works the ball gap to gap, and he rotates his core through.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Andrew is a hard working 2-way prospect that is a grinder with a high baseball IQ. At the hot corner, Andrew is on time with his prep step, he has a quick first step, and has range on both sides of the glove. He creates good angles, plays through his backhand, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Andrew starts in a relaxed stance, he loads his hands back, and is always ready to attack the fastball. He has quick hands, a direct swing path, and is a line drive/ gap to gap hitter. On the bump, Andrew gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He has some run on his fastball and a medium break on his curveball. He throws both pitches for strikes and gets ahead of hitters early. Andrew will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Andrew is a 3B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Andrew fields in a low position and makes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and keeps his throws accurate with life across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting into his load and produces solid line drives. On the mound, Andrew starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. Andrew shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits from 60-63mph with 11-5 break. With three more years to develop, Andrew has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
