Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Andrew is a hard working 2-way prospect that made adjustments throughout the week. At SS, Andrew presents a low/early glove, he creates good angles to the ball, and works from the ground up. He needs to improve his first step quickness and build arm strength. He has good feeds on double plays and makes the routine play. At the plate, Andrew starts in an athletic and open stance. He gets his front foot down on time and swings with intent. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and rotating his lower half will shorten his swing path. On the bump, Andrew shows confidence in his fastball and gets hitters to miss his breaking ball. Andrew needs to continue to gather over the rubber, separate on time, and ride his lower half down hill. Andrew will continue to improve with repetition and experience.

07/15/2019 - College PREP - Avon (Cleveland), OH Andrew is an athletic, lean 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2020. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 2B, he displays clean / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes to work around balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75 mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-66 mph with 11/5 shape and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
