Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

05/05/2019 - College PREP - College Station, TX Andrew is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Andrew shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistent with carry through his target. Presenting his hands to the ball sooner can help Andrew improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and gets into his load well. He drives through well with his lower half and takes a direct swing, leading to solid line drives. Andrew can improve as a hitter by taking a more controlled stride. On the mound, Andrew gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm. He extends through his release and stays inline towards the plate. Andrew shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-69mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 71-73mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Separating his hands earlier in his motion can help Andrew improve as a pitcher. Overall, Andrew is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
