10/08/2017 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Andrew is a lean, athletic ballplayer who shows the ability to play multiple positions on the field. Defense at the hot corner is his calling card as his instincts and athleticism allow him to make the tough plays expected from a corner infielder. He shows quick lateral movements and a strong glove angle to cleanly field hard hit balls. He also gets rid of the ball quickly to make accurate feeds and throws across the diamond. Behind the plate, he works around pitches to receive and present them in the zone. He is a willing blocker whose quick footwork allows him to smother the ball and recover quickly. Staying low to throw will result in quicker release times and more runners thrown out. At the dish, he works to drive the ball to the middle of the field with a compact swing and direct path. He gets on plane early with a strong bat angle and extends through contact to make hard contact for line drives to all fields. Andrew is an intriguing prospect who looks primed for a big senior season.

07/18/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has really improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.35 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks the ball well and sticks balls in the zone, displaying a firm glove. He shows a quick recovery through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down quicker and center balls to improve grade. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm but will benefit by presenting more out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive to approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Andrew is a hardworking, coachable C/2B prospect who graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, Andrew has an open, crouched stance with a good base. He takes a good load with a square stride. Andrew is a contact hitter with an aggressive approach and long swing path. Behind the plate, Andrew works hard and tracks the ball well. He presents a good low target and receives the ball with a firm glove. Andrew does a nice job blocking the baseball and keeping everything in front of himself. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and is working to quicken his release. Overall, Andrew has good potential and can continue to get better.

10/23/2016 - College PREP - O'Fallon, MO Andrew is an athletic 2018 prospect who can play multiple positions on the field. He is an exciting defensive catcher with advanced instincts and fluid actions behind the plate. At the dish, he has good rhythm and balance throughout his swing with a strong lower half that gets through quickly. He lets the ball travel deep into the zone and then launches, using all fields with the ability to drive the ball. Keeping his wrists stiff longer in his swing will keep him from rolling over on pitches and allow him to hit the ball harder. At second, he has a quick first step, a necessity for a middle infielder, with extended range to both sides taking good angles. He has soft hands and a clean exchange to turn double plays quickly. Behind the plate, he uses his athleticism well to get down to block quickly and has firm hands to deaden the ball. He works around the ball well to stick pitches for strikes and is smooth to receive, exchange and throw to bases. Andrew is an exciting prospect who we look forward to continue watching develop moving forward.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
