03/19/2023 - National Showcase - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Andrew is a 2027 2B prospect out of Prattville, AL. In the field, he displays a strong acumen for the 2B position. His feet are active and he has range to all sides. Understands the best way to create angles to the ball to make a play. He gets himself in a very athletic, low fielding position and presents his hands out in front and works through the baseball. His exchange is clean and he does a good job of creating momentum towards his target. He really gets rid of the ball quickly. Works hard to put himself in a good position around the bag on double plays. At the plate, he starts with a squared stance and gets a good load. He has good rhythm with his swing and keeps his balance centered throughout. He does a great job of keeping his head down and maintaining a level swing, that he uses to spray line drives to all fields. His lower 1/2 does a great job of working through the baseball. Very sound fundamentals in the field and at the plate. Really excited to see Andrew grow and progress in his baseball abilities!

He could benefit from striding back in line to the pitcher to help stay through the baseball better at contact. He works a line drive approach and hits the ball to all fields. On the mound, he does a good job of gathering over the rubber and staying in his legs while having good direction to the plate. He finishes with his chest over his knee allowing him to get extension through his pitch. He worked a 3 pitch mix of fastball, curveball and change up. With three more years to develop, Andrew has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
