Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Preseason All America - 2009 Andrew showed only in the OF at the event and showed well above average arm strength with above average defensive abilities. He did not show as well at the event as we have seen in the past. He was 2 for 5 but does have some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential. Hitting grades and power numbers will improve with instruction and adjustments at the plate. Andrew has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

10/26/2008 - National Tryout - Stockton, CA Andrew is a tall lean athlete with potential at the next level. Although he also pitches with a directional balanced delivery he is more suited for the OF at this time. In the field, Andrew takes great angles and has all the instincts that coaches love. He gets rid of the ball quickly with a strong arm. As he grows into his body, he should only get better. At the plate, Andrew has bat speed and some power especially to the pull side. The ball simply jumps off his bat with balance and extension. Andrew should impress a lot of coaches during his senior campaign.

04/27/2008 - College PREP - Stockton, CA Andrew is a tall thin athletic player who is more suited for the outfield at this point. Defensively, Andrew has range and is able to track the ball well. Transfers the ball quickly but takes too many steps to throw the ball. However, he is an above average defender. At the plate, Andrew displays bat speed and a quiet approach. He loads well and extends nicely through the ball. He can get more power out of his swing by better utilizing his lower half. On the mound, Andrew has balance with a loose arm. He has a feel for his off speed pitches which are above average. A long toss program can increase arm strength. Andrew has potential at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
