12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved, now showing outstanding tool as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally and shows a solid backhand. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Foot work around the bag is a plus and he is a quality receiver. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to show improvement, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with tremendous power potential. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. He shows a strong lower half and has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 5 for 10 with a 2B and 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

10/01/2017 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Andrew is a solid, strong 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.31. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the 3-6-3 double play as he recovers well. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly and displays an outstanding arm. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally. At the plate, he continues to shine displaying solid hitting with outstanding power potential through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Andrew has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
