Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Andrew had yet another good outing with Baseball Factory, especially on the bump, at the UAPSAA Event. The RHP showed a solid three pitch mix with a good tempo and compact motion. His arm worked clean to deliver and he pounded the zone well. His FB and SPL were very efficient pitches with run and deception, however his most impressive pitch was his CB. With 11/5 shape, late break, and an ability to command the pitch, his CB from 67-69 is his out pitch that he can throw at any time. On the other side of the pitch, Andrew sat in the box with balance and had a fluid move to ready himself to hit. He delivered the barrel on a line-drive path and was consistent with contact. Defensively at SS, his athleticism was exposed, as he actively moved his feet to get his body in position to make plays. He brought good energy to the INF and took good angles to make plays with some ease. Overall - Andrew is an intriguing 2019 follow that appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

10/26/2016 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Andrew is a strong/athletic SS and RHP who will graduate in 2019. Defensively, he showed fluid footwork which allowed him to aggressively attack each ball, while staying under control, then center it up to work from the ground up to field. Arm played very well for the position (87 mph raw velocity), as he showed he could make throws from multiple angles and keep them accurate. Offensively, he showed pop to his pull side, but also showed the ability to spray to all fields. Balance was centered throughout his swing, as his hands/feet worked together and were on time. On the mound, Andrew showed that he was a competitor who could induce ground balls consistently. He featured a fastball in the low 80's that had tailing movement, a slider that showed good depth, and a fine changeup that sat in the low 70's. Overall, Andrew shows impressive skills on both sides of the ball, and with continued growth as a player, will get the chance to compete at the next level.

08/07/2016 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Andrew is a young, two-way player who has potential to make an impact in all areas of the game at the next level. At SS, Andrew works with quick feet giving him good range, especially backhand. He presents his glove, has a clean exchange, and works through the baseball with a short, consistent arm action leading to accurate throws. Offensively, Andrew has an athletic, square stance with a good load. He stays back nicely and uses his fast bat speed in rhythm with his lower half to produce hard hit line drives. On the mound, Andrew has a balanced, compact motion with a clean arm action that extends through his finish with a controlled landing. His 3/4 arm slot gives his 80-82 MPH FB good sink. Andrew also throws a slider with 11-5 break and a splitter ranging from 67-70 MPH. Andrew is standout prospect in many regards and will continue to build off his solid mechanics and aggressive approach.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
