07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Andrew continues to improve on his skills. He has a high baseball IQ, is always thinking one play ahead and is a leader on the diamond. Transfer/exchange is smooth with accurate throws down to 2B - pop times of 2.17. He is quick laterally and centers pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest, keeping the ball in front. As a hitter, Andrew has a balanced approach with simple/quiet actions. He has good zone awareness waiting for his pitch (as he drew 3 walks at the event). He barrels the ball up, hitting it where it's pitched with the ability to spray the gaps. This 2017 grad has upside with still time to develop to get to where he wants to be.

03/08/2015 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Andrew is a (2017 grad) R/R catcher (6'0"/155). Behind the dish, he sits in well and tracks the ball into his mitt with good pocket awareness. He works hard to get around pitches in the dirt, centering the ball off of his chest. Exchange is clean with accurate throws to 2B. Working to get into a lower setup will allow for improved flexion. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with quiet actions. He connects and drives the ball on a level path. Relaxing his grip and engaging his lower ½ will both help to improve skills at the plate. Only a 2017 grad - Andrew has skills with still a lot of time to develop.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Andrew is a 2017 graduate who is a baseball encyclopedia. Behind the dish, he moves well with quiet feet and a solid arm. He showed soft hands and gets around the ball very well in the dirt. Sitting lower and improving his footwork will take his catching abilities a step further. At the plate, he showed a good balanced stance with a strong front side. Working on a more powerful leg drive and being more aggressive through the contact zone will improve his hitting abilities. In all - Andrew is a great kid and a good listener that has time to strengthen his game.

12/14/2014 - National Tryout - Madison (NYC), NJ Andrew continues to work hard on his game. Showing only behind the plate at his latest event. He sits in well with flexion and athletic actions. He sticks pitches in the zone, frames well, and has a clean exchange to throw. Working to gain ground and stay low to throw will help pop times to continue to lower. With the bat, this RHH shows an open stance with patience, waiting for his pitch. Swing path is level as he connects and drives the middle of the field. More extension through contact will help to increase power at the plate. Only a 2017 grad - Andrew still has time to develop and progress in his game.

10/05/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Andrew is a young, versatile ball player projecting at not only C, but OF as well. Behind the dish, he has good mechanics with his throws to 2B. He presents his glove well making him an easy target to throw to. Generating quicker feet, lateral quickness and more fluid motions, Andrew will notice his abilities as a C improve. In the OF, he gets to the ball with aggressive actions, covering a solid amount of ground. He has sure hands and gets behind the ball. By playing through the ball and developing arm strength, his abilities in the OF will improve. Offensively, he has a square stance, some balance, good timing and a level swing. He explodes out of the box with good speed. Starting his actions earlier, developing a shorter swing and getting separation with his hands will allow Andrew to have a more consistent swing. With time on his side, Andrew will be one to watch in a few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
