02/18/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with sharp / downward break. He maintains arm speed on his knuckleball, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness.

08/02/2017 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Andrew is a lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Andrew has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
