09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (86 mph velocity) across the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball shows sinking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/07/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Andrew is a tall SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Andrew gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Andrew improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets into his load well. He leads with his lower half and produces loud contact to all fields. Andrew can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance throughout his swing. On the mound, Andrew gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, finishing square to the plate. Andrew shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph. Breaking ball sits from 68-69mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph with late arm side run and sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Andrew improve as a pitcher. Overall, Andrew is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Andrew showed many upgrades during his last workout in Vinton, VA. He ran his fastest 60 to date at 6.96 seconds, raised arm velocity to 85 MPH, and exit velocity to 82 MPH. At SS, Andrew has active feet, he creates a good fielding angle, and he makes plays consistently. He has a quick/clean exchange, and a strong/accurate arm with carry across the diamond. On the mound, Andrew keeps his eyes on target and has good balance. He has a controlled landing toward home and competes in the zone. A longer arm action, better separation, and more finish will help improve mound effectiveness. At the plate, Andrew improved hitting numbers to 48's. He has a tall/open stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has pop in his bat, makes hard/consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Hitting can continue to improve with work on timing and a shorter swing path.

11/04/2018 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.37. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball shows a range of 77-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Andrew is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect who showed well at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Andrew gets into an athletic fielding position and tracks the ball well into his glove. He has a quick release on his throws across the diamond and keeps them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and takes a level swing to the ball. He has decent bat speed coming through the zone which leads to square contact to all fields. On the mound, Andrew shows a good rhythm as he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose, clean arm action and takes a good stride to the plate. Andrew has a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with sinking action. Curveball sits from 61-64mph with 10-4 break. Slider ranges from 68-70mph. Changeup sits at 63mph with sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Andrew is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

11/05/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Andrew continues to show make great progress on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays proper footwork in attacking balls and playing through well. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate hitting / power potential has really improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently.

11/06/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, arm strength has improved, as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 66 mph. Fastball showed a range of 64-66 mph. Breaking ball displaying 11/5 shape with gradual break. He shows sinking action on his changeup but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in further development on the mound. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, feet are active as he moves well laterally, flashing range. Glove action is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. At the plate he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at the Yankees Training Complex Andrew is a 2021 RHP/SS that showed some improvement in his most recent outing. On the mound, Andrew gathers himself over the rubber with solid mechanics and a good balance point. He showed good direction toward the plate with a decent arm action. Working on consistency and building strength will allow him to improve. At SS, he showed some body control with aggressive hands. He worked with smooth hands on the DP and his ball showed carry on it. Working on consistent glove presentation, range, and being more aggressive when playing through the ball are some areas to work on. Offensively, he stands in the box with a square, relaxed stance. His simple, balanced approach results in the ability to work to all fields with a line drive swing. Loading his hands and utilizing his lower half more will help him to be more fluid with his swing, and will also help him to get more bat speed and rhythm. Andrew is continuing to develop and will improve as he continues to work hard.

11/02/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Andrew is a young 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB & CH from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has on-time separation and works in-line toward the plate. Fb tops out at 53 mph while changeup ranges from 46-49 mph. At SS, Andrew is aggressive and comes to get the ground ball. He shows quick lateral footwork and can make the play to his right and left. Offensively, this RHH shows a solid set-up with good balance. He is a contact type of hitter and like the pitch on the inner 1/2. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
