Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

02/11/2018 - College PREP - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Andrew is an extremely talented two-way prospect with impressive tools all over the field. He can get it done at any position, but has a particularly strong arm both in the outfield to throw out base runners and on the mound with his big fastball. On the bump, he shows a true three-pitch mix with above average offerings in a upper 80's tailing FB, a sharp 11-5 CB and a deceptive CH with late run. He has command of each offering and shows feel for sequencing to keep hitters off balance and carve through lineups. In the outfield, his athleticism is apparent with smooth actions to get quick jumps and track down long fly balls. He gets behind the ball and plays through with a strong crow hop to throw seeds and cut down base runners. At the dish, he shows home run power with lightening quick hands and feel for the barrel to crush the ball consistently. He works on a direct path to the ball after launching from a power position and has a strong lower half to generate bat speed and all-fields power. Andrew is a stud all over the field and will be a contributor at the next level.

08/07/2016 - College PREP - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Andrew is talented young two-way player with intriguing upside in all facets of the game. On the mound, Andrew is a RHP with a clean motion throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His mechanics are balanced and although he lands slightly closed, Andrew extends upon release and maintains direction towards home plate. Andrew locates his 81-85 MPH FB with movement. His outpitch, the curveball, has a sharp 11-5 break. Defensively, Andrew roams the outfield with active feet, an aggressive approach, and a quick release giving him the ability to make all the plays. He plays through the baseball with good momentum towards his target and can improve the accuracy on his strong throws with a higher arm slot. At the plate, Andrew has a tall setup with slightly long actions, but takes a direct path to the baseball to deliver consistent, hard contact. Andrew can improve his contact on inside pitches with more active hands and a shorter bat path. Overall, Andrew's potential with his skill set is only likely to grow as continues to mature.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
