08/02/2017 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Andrew continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvement in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential, now showing well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.10 range with accuracy and carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a solid setup behind the dish and presents a soft glove that sticks balls well in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate.

07/31/2016 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Andrew is a solid C who will graduate in 2018. Behind the plate, Andrew has good body control and efficient feet. He is very quick to blocking balls in the dirt as he beats the ball to it's spot. His hands are sure and he presents them on time to receive the ball. He uses the proper footwork behind the plate and getting off throws to 2B. He has a clean, quick exchange and his throws stay on-line to his target. Andrew can improve defensively by incorporating a long toss program to improve his arm strength. In the box, Andrew shows good balance and has a square stride to the ball. He shows good rhythm and fluid actions getting into his load and then comes through the zone with a direct swing. He rotates his core well as he extends through the zone with good bat speed. Andrew can improve as a hitter by separating his hands more while getting into his load. Overall, Andrew is a talented C and with two more years to develop he has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/16/2015 - College PREP - Auburn Hills, MI Andrew is a 2018 backstop with consistent ability on the diamond. Offensively, he was aggressive to get the barrel through the zone and had good feel to hit. He hit to all fields with some present pop and had a quiet head which allowed for barrel accuracy. Defensively, he was flexible to sit, and got his glove out in front in time to receive with soft hands. He was quiet with his actions, tracked well, and anticipated down to block with a soft chest. In all - Andrew is a young player that flashes pops in the 2.0-2.1 range and has a promising future ahead.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
