Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Andrew is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Andrew takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, Andrew sets up in an athletic stance and takes a soft stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and works to barrel up the baseball. Andrew can improve as a hitter by taking a level swing path. On the mound, Andrew starts with a small rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. Andrew shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph. Breaking ball sits from 70-71mph with 11-5 break. Extending through more on his release can help Andrew improve as a pitcher. Overall, Andrew is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

08/05/2018 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH Andrew is a slim, athletic, 2-way player with good skills. At SS, Andrew has athletic actions, active feet, and presentable hands. He attacks aggressively, makes plays cleanly, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. Looser overall actions and a quicker exchange can help solid defensive numbers get better. On the mound, Andrew has a loose arm action, good balance, and he works on a downhill plane. He repeats his delivery, gets good extension on his pitches, and competes in the zone. More finish and lower body will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively, Andrew has a tall/athletic set-up, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He has loose hands, fast bat speed, and he uses his lower body.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
