Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Andrew is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Andrew takes a good first step and is aggressive attacking the ball. He fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws and gets good carry through his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Andrew improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated and remains centered with his lower half. He flashes strong barrel control and rotates his core well, leading to solid pop to the opposite field. Andrew can improve as a hitter by taking a more level swing path. On the mound, Andrew starts with a simple rock step and works with a loose arm. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph. Breaking ball sits at 61mph with solid movement. Splitter sits at 69mph. Extending through his release more can help Andrew improve as a pitcher. Overall, Andrew is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
