Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

07/09/2011 - Team One West 2011 Potter only showed on the mound as a right-handed pitcher where he continues to show as a top prospect. Has fastball ranged from 90-91 mph with arm side run. His breaking ball has improved showing a sharp 3/4 break. Andrew's shows a solid feel for his change-up that has fading action. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches and works to get ahead.

01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Andrew is an aggressive strike thrower on the mound that attacks hitters with his fastball. That fastball has some late life and sits in the 88-91 mph range. He also throws a good, tight slider that has tilt and depth. Andrew also shows a lot of confidence (and plus feel) in his change that has some tail. Overall, he's mechanically sound - loose, quick and clean with his arm - and competes on the mound with a quality three pitch mix.

10/22/2010 - Team One Futures Game 2010 - WEST Andrew has a typical pitchers frame with a high backside and standing 6'1/180. On the mound, he throws from a ' arm slot with good loose arm action. His fastball velocity ranged from 88-89 and touched 91mph. He is very aggressive and attacks hitters. Has good balance and stays closed with his shoulders. His breaking ball velocity was 72-74 with a hard sharp break. Uses the corners, will throw inside, and changed the hitters eye level. He showed great command of the strike zone and made hitters look foolish. Andrew will be a great addition to a college baseball pitching staff.

09/19/2010 - College PREP - Santa Barbara, CA Andrew is a young two-way player on the mound plus at 3B with a ton of potential and athletic abilities at both positions. His body is solid and athletic showing projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is average as indicated by his 7.56 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with his body. He moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands are clean, soft, and sure in making all the plays as he displays fluid actions in the IF. Offensively, Potters shows a balanced approach as he loads well and attacks the baseball with hands. He uses his lower half well with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 86-90 mph on a strong downhill plane, creating tough angles on hitters. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin. Changeup shows average feel for but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well. With 2 years to further develop, Andrew has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the top collegiate programs and pro scouts.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
