06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2
Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.84. In the MIF, he displays smooth, fluid actions. Feet are quick as he moves well laterally, displaying plus range in the MIF. He plays through balls and presents glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together and he shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
05/22/2016 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX
This athletic 2-way player continues to progress. Foot speed has improved as he now runs his 60 in 6.95. In the OF, he tracks down fly-balls to his right an left working well on the balls of his feet. He secures the ball with 2-hands and has a quick/clean exchange to throw. At SS, Andrew shows active prep footwork and moves right to left around the GB. He presents his glove, funnels smoothly and works in-line toward his target at 1B. As a hitter - this righty stands in with an athletic setup. He remains selective waiting for a pitch his likes. He delivers the barrel with leverage and squares it up, driving it on a line. Reyes is a solid all-around versatile player who will find success as he approaches his senior year.
01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament
Andrew is a primary 2B that showed his athletic abilities during camp. In the infield he has quick feet, sure hands, and takes proper angles to the ball. He stays under control with his approach and has good range up the middle. He works well around the bag and has excellent double play feeds and pivots. At the plate he has a strong setup with good balance. He made hard contact during games and delivers the barrel with good accuracy. His bat speed is quick and he is an ideal top of the order hitter with his line drive approach.
07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City
Andrew is a young player who shows solid fundamentals. In the infield, he shows smooth, loose actions with sure hands and good life on his throws. He flashes good range and is very consistent fielding ground balls. He can work on his pre-pitch positioning based on hitter, count and situation. He also needs to be more of a vocal leader as the captain of the infield at shortstop. In the outfield, he again shows great range and good reactions with a quick first step. He has good carry on his throws and his footwork is fluid and effective. He can work on being louder with his communication with other players when the ball is in the air. At the plate, he shows solid balance and uses his hands well to stay inside of the ball and keep the barrel level through the zone. He shows gap to gap power with a solid line drive approach. He can work on getting more out of his lower half, which will create more power. He also needs to work on pitch selection and zone recognition. Overall, Andrew is a solid player who leads by example despite being relatively quiet on the field. Once he learns to be more vocal he can be a captain for his defense.
05/19/2013 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX
Andrew is a rising freshman with solid ability in all areas of the game. A 7.29 runner - Reyes displays good footwork at SS with good glove presentation. He has exceptional backhand footwork and is fluid with his double play turns. To help strengthen his arm, Andrew needs to implement a throwing/long toss program. Offensively, he has good bat speed and is consistent with his barrel. Reyes hits to all fields - being patient and utilizing contact points. Overall, Reyes shows promise as he enters high school and should continue getting stronger and building off his sound fundamentals.
