07/17/2008 - Cape Cod Training 2008 - Week 2
Romanella showed great hand-eye coordination at the plate, along with solid bat speed and an aggressive approach. Gap power showed at times. Must work to stay more on top, and to keep balls out of the air - power is not his game. Defensively, he showed good smarts and leadership qualities. His actions were excellent and his hands were soft. Can work to improve his footwork and agility, along with overall strength. Overall, a player with developing skill and some feel for the game. Ran 7.48 in the 60-yard dash.
06/28/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 4
Andrew is a middle infielder who brings a vast amount of baseball knowledge to the field everyday. Improved grades in 60-time, arm, fielding, and hitting. At SS, showed good presentation with the ability to keep feet moving as he fields ball. Presented soft hands with good backhand which lead to quick release. Throws uphill a bit cause of stiff shoulders. Long toss will improve arm strength. As feet become quicker, lateral movement will improve. At the plate, started with good load and holds ground well. Quick hands allowed him to center most balls. Still could do better with extending thru ball to get proper backspin. Transfer will improve when he doesn't lean back at contact and uses his lower half to explode thru ball.
06/19/2008 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - 2008
Andrew has excellent work habits with ability to make adjustments as instructed. At the plate, has average bat speed with the ability to use all fields. Has a good presentation and excels at bunting. Increasing overall strength will help increase bat speed. In the INF, shows soft hands with a quick release and good body control. Has good instincts when ball is hit his way. Would like to see him play thru ball because he seemed to get a bad hop when he stayed back on ball.
08/05/2007 - Hall of Fame Training - 2007
Andrew demonstrated that he is an aggressive, hard working, SS. Romanella displayed his excellent bat speed but needs to concentrate on attacking the top half of the baseball.
