Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Andrew is slim and athletic 2019 2-way player. Behind the dish, Andrew has a squared primary and secondary. He shows the ability to block the ball side to side. He has a clean exchange and creates momentum in his lower half when getting ready to throw. Continuing to show a low and early target, relaxing his should, and working behind the ball will allow him to be more consistent receiving the ball. At the plate, Andrew gets his front foot down on time and loads his hands into the drive position. He keeps a quiet head, has good pitch recognition, and keeps a level barrel to the ball. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball will allow him to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Andrew Gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and stays directional toward the plate. He has good tempo on the mound and varies his looks with runners on base. Andrew hustles, and shows versatility playing multiple positions. Andrew will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/03/2017 - College PREP - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Andrew is a two way C/SS prospect who will graduate in 2019. Behind the plate, Andrew takes good angels when blocking balls in the dirt and is very quick to his feet. He gains momentum well on his throws to 2B and keeps them consistent to the bag. Andrew can improve as a C by sitting in a lower stance. As a SS, Andrew shows a good prep step and makes the routine plays. Andrew can improve as a SS by getting into a more atheltic fielding position and by presenting his glove to the ball sooner. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and tracks the ball well. He takes a short swing and works to barrel up the baseball. Andrew can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher and by getting into his load earlier. Overall, Andrew is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
