Official Scouting Report

  • SS/2BPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Andrew continues to show progress and a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, feet are active as he moves well laterally and plays with a ton of energy. Hands/feet work well together through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (94 mph exit velocity) and works inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 3 with a 2B and sac fly.

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Andrew is a tall, lean SS with a bright future ahead of him. At SS, he works to the ball with confidence and a ton of energy. His agility and footwork around the bag gives himself a reliable target on the DP. His feeds are accurate and ball shows life across the diamond. At the plate, this switch hitter hits with a contact type approach with a square stance and rhythm in his hands. Versatility at the plate will help Andrew be an impact player in any lineup. Overall, the sky is the limit with the set of tools Andrew has and his projectable build.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Andrew is a switch-hitting SS/2B who plays hard and has a good feel for the game. He's able to repeat his swing from both sides of the plate and displays good rhythm throughout his swing, which led to consistent barrel accuracy. To take his game to the next level, Andrew needs to learn to use his lower half more during his swing and improve his game strength. In the field, Andrew uses his athleticism to his advantage with quick lateral movements and his lower half leads to good carry on his throws. In order to keep improving, Andrew needs to widen his pre-pitch base to give him better jumps on balls off the bat. In all - Andrew is an intriguing prospect that is preparing for next level play.

08/24/2014 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Andrew is a lean, young SS that will graduate in 2017. Defensive abilities are slightly above average as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active/aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft/clean/sure as he presents well out in front. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases his foot quickness. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter but projects slightly better from the right side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields and works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. With 2 years to further develop, Andrew has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
