09/28/2011 - Under Armour Fall Classic - 2011 Andrew is a catcher with a strong lower half and projectable frame. Behind the plate, he has a good setup with a quick exchange and he blocks very well. He will continue to grow as a defender as he learns to keep his glove side elbow up, and soften his hands when he receives the pitch. As a hitter, Andrew has a balanced setup with a smooth load that allows him to drive his backside through contact. He will continue to develop as a hitter as he learns to eliminate his slight barrel wrap allowing him to become more direct to contact. Andrew is a great kid and demonstrates excellent make-up on and off the field.

08/09/2011 - College PREP - Bear (Wilmington), DE Andrew raised his radar velocity from 74 to 78 MPH and also lowered his pop times during his workout in Bear, DE. Behind the plate, Andrew showed quick / fluid feet, soft / sure hands, and a low target. He has good flexion, he works around the ball, and his exchange is quick and clean. Andrew has a short / loose arm action, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. In the OF, Andrew has good pre-pitch actions, he takes good angles to the ball, and his feet are active. He covers ground well, makes plays, and his exchange is clean. Andrew throws with accuracy and carry to his cut off man. At the plate, Andrew has an open stance, good bat speed, and good barrel accuracy. His swing is level, he makes square contact, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2.

07/14/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 14-18, 2011 Stockhecker continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved to solid average with accuracy and carry on his throws. Pop times have improved showing a range of 2.14 -2.30 as he gain ground with his feet through a clean transfer / exchange. Offensively, hitting grades and power numbers are now solid through a balanced approach. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows good power to all fields as he shows a plus feel for the barrel.

07/20/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Andrew is a young catcher with a solid, athletic frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.33 60 time. He utilizes his quick feet well in gaining ground but needs to work more directional to his target with his throws. He gets rid of the baseball quickly through an efficient transfer and exchange with pop times currently showing a range of 2.22-2.39. Throws show accuracy but he would benefit from doing a consistent long toss program to provide more carry, thus lowering pop times. Receiving and blocking skills are slightly above average right now. Offensively, Stockhecker flashes quick hands through a level swing path showing a feel for the barrel to the pull side due to long swing path. He has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving with instruction and adjustments. With 2 years to further develop, Andrew has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
