Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • OF/SSPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed continues to improve as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays fluid / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. At the plate, power potential has improved, now showing well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a great teammate.

06/20/2018 - College PREP - Charleston, WV Andrew is a solid, athletic SS/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive but needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Andrew has potential with time and room to progress his game

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
