01/23/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Andy continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. In the OF, he has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight from the backside into a firm front side.

10/23/2021 - Fall Pro Training Experience - Nor Cal (HS) Andy is an OF who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength to come. In the OF, starts with active feet and takes good routes to balls. Shows ability to work behind and through the ball while keeping his feet active. Good glove angle as he fields the ball off of his left foot with a clean gather. Short arm action into a high 3/4 release point with on-line throws into the infield at 81mph. A right-handed hitter, hits from an athletic and closed stance. Smooth swing who swings with intent. Rotates hips as he gets his hips thru the swing with good extension. Hard/square contact and ability to hit line drives into both gaps. Hit multiple balls hard in live game action with a bat exit velocity of 76mph. With continued development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jose, CA Andy is an athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally (7.28 60 time) and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 3 years to further develop, Andy has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
