07/23/2012 - 2012 Team One Northeast Showcase Angel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 6.91. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in attacking ground balls and playing through well as he displays clean / soft hands well out front. Throws are accurate displaying carry across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He is aggressive and shows a solid feel for the barrel with power numbers continuing to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 5.

07/24/2011 - Team One Northeast 2011 Angel showed similar offensive abilities and defensive improvements during his time at Team One. Defensively, Angel has quick / athletic actions, soft / sure hands, and he fields from the right. He fields out in front of his body, gathers himself well, and he throws with accuracy and good carry to his target. At the plate, Angel is currently a better hitter from the right side. He has quick hands, good balance, and a level swing. From the left side, Angel shows a balanced set-up and good bat speed. Angel is a talented young player with a bright future.

01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Angel is a young, athletic, middle INF with good offensive and defensive skills. Defensively, Angel has quick feet, athletic actions, and soft / sure hands. He presents his glove well, fields out in front of his body, and has a quick clean transfer. Defensive grades can improve if Angel can play through the ball more, and decrease the amount of steps when throwing to his target. Offensively, Angel is currently a solid hitter from both sides of the plate. From the right side, Angel has good balance, a level / aggressive swing, and centers the ball well. From the left side, Angel stands in the box well, has a quiet load, and puts the bat on the ball. Added physical strength from both sides will help offensive tool grades improve. Angel is a young player who has a very bright future ahead of him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
