06/10/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida A defensive specialist - Angel makes it look easy. Behind the dish, he sits in with athletic actions and good sway. Ball is quick from glove to hand and he gains ground and puts his throws on the bag consistently. Offensively, he shows a simple approach with a solid base. He has plus power as he connects, utilizes his strong lower 1/2 and drives the ball with authority. An exciting player to watch - Lopez has a very bright future ahead of him.

02/23/2014 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Angel is a very talented catcher that will graduate in 2015. Defensively, he flashed a pop time of 1.85 with an easy arm and clean exchange. He sits well, receives with soft/sure hands and moves well down to block - deadening the ball in front. His catch and throw ability is in the elite range for his class. With the bat, he has a direct and accurate barrel with plus bat speed. He has a spray approach and the ball jumps at contact. Overall - Lopez is a special backstop that not only has a very bright defensive future, but can also be an offensive contributor.

07/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Angel is an athletic catcher that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.20 60 time. Feet are quick / aggressive in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the range of 1.90-2.04 with accuracy, life and on line carry on his throws as he displays pro arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools at the next level. At the plate, Lopez continues to shine displaying outstanding hitting abilities and power through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path with great extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he will hit and hit with power. With 2 years to further develop, Angel has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
