07/28/2021 - Baseball Factory Southwest Championships 17U Angel is a coachable MIF prospect who showcased his skills during the Southwest Championships. In the field, Angel shows smooth footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and remains centered in his lower half. He works through a smooth swing and sprays the ball to all fields. Overall, Angel is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Angel showed nice upgrades in his game during the Pre-Season AA. He increased arm strength to 80 MPH, exit velocity to 75 MPH, and abilities in the INF improved. He has active feet, plays with good energy, and takes good angles to the baseball. He has agile range, a low/square fielding position, and he has a short/accurate arm across the diamond. Offensively, Angel has loose hands, a square stance, and he swings on plane. He makes solid contact and rotates his core through.

09/08/2019 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Angel continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions and shows big play potential in the MIF. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He attacks and works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
