03/04/2012 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Angel is an athletic and thick LHP/1B who hits from the left side. Offensively, he displays a square setup, short stride, and decent bat speed. He gets his lower 1/2 thru and is a pull-type hitter. Better rhythm and more extension thru contact will help hitting abilities improve. On the mound, he has a repeatable delivery, he keeps his eyes on his target, and he works in-line. His FB is straight and ranges from 76-77 mph. For mound effectiveness to improve he needs more glove side pull, he needs to improve his command, and land in a more athletic position. Defensively at 1B, he displays an athletic/low setup, active feet, and sure hands. He shows quickness in his actions and has good lateral movements. More prep and increased arm strength will help defensive abilities improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
