10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Corpus Christi, TX Angel increased radar velocity to 79 MPH and showed defensive upgrades at 1B during his last workout with The Factory. Defensively, Angel has active feet, a presentable glove, and he fields in a square position. He has good bag awareness, funnels properly, and throws with momentum and a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Angel has good balance and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, lands with good direction toward the plate, and he competes in the zone. Offensively, Angel has a square stance, he loads well, and has a direct barrel to the ball. He has a good bat angle, he can spray to all fields, and he uses his lower body.

01/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Houston, TX Angel continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He works to square ball up and makes the routine plays. He displays proper footwork around the bag and he is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

06/04/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Angel is an athletic and tall 2020 2 way player. At 1B, Angel has a fluid prep step and reads the ball off the bat well. He presents a low/early glove, works from the ground up, and has good footwork off the bag on double plays. At the plate, Angel starts in a tall stance and is aggressive to the ball. He uses his backside and hits the ball to all fields. On the bump, Angel gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends through his release point. He has a loose delivery and gets arm side run on his fastball. Angel will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/22/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Conroe (Houston), TX Angel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he improved the most, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays athletic actions. Feet are aggressive and display proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 64-66 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Angel is a tall, lean RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows bests through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he uses his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Feet are active in square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 63-66 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Angel has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
