Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

07/27/2023 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Angus is an athletic left-handed hitting OF in the 2024 class. Defensively, he plays on the balls of his feet and his footwork is smooth. Takes excellent routes to the baseball with a quick 1st step. Allows his body to be on-time to field and his hands are trusted to secure the baseball. At the plate, he was one of the best hitters during the week. He created consistent hard contact through the middle of the field. Routinely stays balanced and has above average pitch selection. Looks confident in the box and can also push and drag for a hit. Overall, Angus can be a difference maker.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Angus is a 2024 2-way prospect from Northern California who presents a combination of baseball talent with athletic ability on both sides of the game. As LH hitter with a table setter approach Angus uses a compact stroke with a feel for using the whole field with his line drive approach and small ball game to profile as a top of the order hitter who is a current 6.9 runner with baseball IQ and speed he creates pressure on defense on the bases. Defensively, he is a true CF who is an above average to plus defender who can stick in CF with a quick first step, instincts on his routes and the raw arm strength at 85 mph to slow down runners on the bases from CF. As well, Angus intrigues on the mound with a pitch mix and feel for the strike zone with pitchability and the athleticism in his delivery and continued strength development the life on his pitches will increase to make him a potential LH reliever at the next level. Overall, Angus is a strong CF prospect with impact defense, offensive tools and the 2-way potential on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
