08/27/2016 - College PREP - West Harrison (NYC), NY Anselmo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he is now an above average runner at 7.20. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying solid hitting / power potential. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields well. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. At SS, he moves well laterally and shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Anselmo has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

02/13/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Beltres works from a quiet set up and has a simple, middle of the field approach at the plate. Utilizing a square stride and activation on the hands, there is timing present and balance generally throughout the stroke. The bat path is direct to the baseball and Anselmo will create more backspin line-drive results by working to get extension through contact with the barrel on plane while increasing fluidity at the plate will help the bat speed to impact. A hard-working player, Anselmo will be able to get the most from his abilities through continued dedication.

12/06/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Anselmo continues to improve his game and has the type of work ethic coaches like to see. He has soft, sure hands in the infield with a clean exchange and an accurate arm. He is also more comfortable going to his backhand then most young infielders. Improved range and arm strength will add to his defensive prowess. At the plate Anselmo has a contact bat and very good head discipline. He tracks the ball well and sprays line drives to all fields. A shorter, more level path will help him find the barrel with more consistency. Overall, Anselmo is making himself into a player who will help the right program in the future.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Anselmo is an athletic R/R MIF who worked hard on his skills during his time at Pirate City. At the plate, this righty shows a balanced setup with a solid base. He has rhythm in his hands and gets back into a loaded position. Swing is level to and through the ball as he has some pop when centered. He is a top of the line-up type of guy as he has a knack for getting on base. At SS, Beltres has active footwork and fluidly moves around the GB from right to left. He is sure handed and has smooth actions with a clean exchange to throw. Playing through the ball more and gaining ground toward his target at 1B will help to take his defensive skills to the next level. Continuing to develop his foot speed will aid is in overall development and will help him to take that next step. Beltres is a skilled MIF who has upside on the diamond with still time to fine tune his toolset.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
