08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Anthony continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows good plate discipline and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.95. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the dish. At 3B, feet are active as he works through a low approach. He moves well laterally and presents a soft glove well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Anthony continues to show improvements in his baseball tools and has a promising future on the diamond. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.97. Receiving / blocking skills are well above average as he shows off his athletic abilities. At the plate, he continues to shine. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone as he connects through a line drive path. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

02/19/2017 - College PREP - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Anthony is a broad, compact C/3B prospect who has the body type that fits both positions. He shows impressive defensive ability at third with the actions to handle the hard hit balls and arm to make strong throws across the diamond. His soft hands and quick reactions are perfect for the hot corner to field everything with athleticism and quick hands to get rid of the ball with carry and accuracy. Behind the plate, he is quick to collapse to block balls in the dirt and shows the footwork to recover quickly. His hands are quick and clean to transfer and get rid of the ball down to second, posting low pop times to show the ability to shut down a running game. Working around the ball to receive with result in better presentation and more strikes for his pitcher. His hands are strong at the plate, loading to a powerful bat angle and whipping through the zone to make hard contact. The lower half works well to generate pop and his feel for the barrel leads to plenty of line drives sprayed all over the field. Anthony is an impressive prospect who looks to have the tools and drive to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
