Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1BPosition Projection

04/13/2014 - National Tryout - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Anthony has worked hard and molded himself into quite a player. At 1B, he is aggressive to come and get the ground ball as he plays from right to left and fields the ball cleanly. He has good footwork around the bag and can get to inaccurate throws. With the bat, this RH swinger shows a balanced approach with a solid base. He creates extension through contact and drives the ball on a line. Only a 2017 grad - Anthony has a bright future ahead of him.

01/13/2012 - Arizona National Spring Training - 2012 (Pre HS) Anthony is a 2017 grad with an athletic/players body who plays 2B/RHP. As an infielder he uses two hands, has an athletic fielding position, fields out front, he has a controlled approach, takes good angles, plays through well and he has accurate/clean feeds/pivots. Anthony just needs to continue polishing his fielding skills, work on his speed/footwork with agility drills and long toss for arm strength. On the mound his arm action/control/delivery are all solid, he uses his lower half well (gets good hip rotation) and his direct to his target. He tends to lock out his front leg at times, he needs to stay taller and be careful not to recoil after extension. At the plate Anthony has an athletic setup, smooth hands back load, square stride, centered balance, lower half gets through, he has fluid rhythm and he consistently squares the ball up. He needs to adjust his swing path so that it is on-plane to the pitch (his is downhill/across body). Anthony is a solid all around player with a good knowledge of the game. If he continues to work he should be a very good player in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
